I got my first chemical peel facial yesterday with Emily Anne Esthetics. On a 1 to 10 scale of “heat” and uncomfortability I’d give it a 5. It was not bad at all. She sent me home with a post-procedure kit and gave me instructions on how to treat my skin over the next week. The peel will take the entire week to turnover dead skin cells and the first layer of skin, meaning that my skin will dry and flake off over the course of the next seven days. To minimize the inflammation and sensitivity Emily gave me some tips.
In addition to keeping the PCA Skin products on hand during the day to moisturize and calm, I was told to use liquid makeup products - no powder. Powder will only exacerbate the dry skin and accentuate any flaking. She also coached me to use a makeup blender sponge and not makeup brushes; the brushes will inflame the skin and cause excessive exfoliation.
I am late to the game, but nonetheless I now have a makeup blender sponge thingy. LOL. Today is Sunday and I am shooting video for the blog and YouTube; makeup is an essential part of my look and my brand. Why not do a tutorial on how to achieve a natural look? I don’t normally use cream based blush or eye products so gathering my materials was really quick. I gathered four products total and two tools:

People! This literally took me 5 minutes to achieve! It’s definitely not full coverage; some rosacea and acne scarring and freckles still show through, but that’s why it’s called a natural look. I’ve never been able to use the cream blush well before, because I didn’t know how to blend without using my fingers. And somehow that always looks blotchy. Using the blending sponge was easy and effective. I got adventurous and used the cream blush on my eyelids and my lips. I finished the look with my smoky taupe eyeliner. This is a light brown, which is perfect for a day/natural look. I have fair skin, dark hair and dark eyes. I rarely use black eyeliner because its too severe for my complexion and small features. Dark brown and this smoky taupe are my go-to’s; they add depth and definition to my hooded eyes. I skipped mascara because again it's a natural look and my small face doesn’t always need it.
